India: A Rocket Manages To Put In Orbit a Record of 104 Satellites

India, whose space program is known for its cheap efficiency, signed a pretty successful Wednesday, sending a satellite and 103 Nano Stellites into orbit.

THE India entered Wednesday in the annals of the highly competitive market for space launches by putting into orbit a record number of 104 satellites with one rocket.

At 9:28 am, a PSLV launcher rose from the Sriharikota (south-eastern India) launch pad with an Indian earth observation satellite of 714 kilograms and 103 nanosatellites, usually from foreign countries , Of a combined weight of 664 kilograms.

After half an hour of an ascent to 27 000 km / h, the space agency ISRO was able to blow. Mission accomplished, she announced on Twitter.

The previous record of this type was held by Russia, with 39 satellites put into orbit in a single mission in June 2014.

While New Delhi has the ambition to become a true international space power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described performance as "outstanding achievement" for his country. This launch "is a new moment of pride for our space science community and our nation," tweeted the Hindu nationalist leader.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today hailed scientists for the successful launch of 104 satellites on board a single rocket from the spaceport of Sriharikota.

At Sriharikota, ISRO chief A S Kiran Kumar said at the mission control centre that the Prime Minister has congratulated the space agency team for the successful launch.

“Congratulations to @isro for the successful launch of PSLV—C37 and CARTOSAT satellite together with 103 nano satellites!,” the Prime Minister said in a tweet.

“This remarkable feat by @isro is yet another proud moment for our space scientific community and the nation. India salutes our scientists,” he said.

President Pranab Mukherjee congratulated ISRO for the record launch of 104 satellites on a single rocket, saying the day will go down as a “landmark” in the history of India’s space progaramme.

In his message to ISRO Chairman A S Kiran Kumar, the President said: “I extend my sincere congratulations and best wishes to you and your team at the ISRO on the successful launch into space of PSLV- C37, carrying a record 104 satellites.

“This day shall go down as a landmark in the history of our space programme. The nation is proud of this significant achievement, which has demonstrated, yet again, India’s increasing space capabilities,” he said.

The President asked Kumar, also the Secretary of the Department of Space, to convey his greetings to the members of his team of scientists, engineers, technologists and all others associated with this “great mission.”

“I urge ISRO to continue to strive for the progress of our space capabilities. I wish all your future endeavours great success,” Mukherjee said.

Veteran space scientist K. Kasturirangan today hailed the record launch of 104 satellites on board a single rocket by ISRO, terming it as a remarkable feat and spectacular success demonstrating to the world India’s capability in the field.

“I admire ISRO for having did this and demonstrated to the world that we can launch more than 100 satellites in a single shot”, the former Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) told PTI.

Among the satellites launched was a home-built earth observation spacecraft. Because simultaneously managing so many satellites - however light they may be - requires extreme precision, experts say. "It's a technical challenge to launch as many satellites on the right orbit at the same time, because they do not have the same trajectory, and to let them go so that they do not touch each other in Space, "explains Mathieu J Weiss, French CNES representative in India.

The market for the launch of commercial satellites continues to grow while the telephone, the Internet and the companies require more and more means of communication. India, whose space program is known for its cheap efficiency, is competing in this niche with other international players.

In particular, it faces the emergence of specialized private companies, leading figures in this " new space " entrepreneurial movement , such as SpaceX by billionaire Elon Musk or Blue Origin by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. The South Asian giant is also developing a reusable shuttle, which could send satellites at prices well below current prices. At the same time, ISRO is exploring possible missions to Jupiter and Venus.

India's First Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus

Tata Motors Disclose First Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus in India

If the Electric/CNG buses are considered the ultimate solution to fight against harmful emissions and noise pollution in the city center, those equipped with a fuel cell (Hydrogen) could appear in India in the coming years.

A bus equipped with a fuel cell (PAC) is an electric bus whose energy is produced directly on board the vehicle, on demand, which does not require the use of bulky, heavy and autonomous batteries Limited.

"Tata Motors launched the future of mass public transportation at its Pune facility and took another step in the direction of green technology and mobility solutions. The company launched the Starbus Electric 9m, Starbus Electric 12m and the Starbus Hybrid 12m range of buses which are designed, developed, powered by alternate fuels and made in India. The company says will be a good for smart cities. The company also showcased the country's first Fuel Cell bus (12m), LNG Powered bus (12m), and an 18m Articulated bus.

The Hydrogen Powered Starbus Fuel Cell bus is a zero-emission mass transport solution, for inter-city commute and has been developed in partnership with ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation). Combining hydrogen gas and oxygen, the fuel cell produces electricity to power the electric motor, with water and heat as a byproduct. This is the first time an Indian manufacturer has ventured in this direction. As far as Electric buses are concerned, Tata Motors finds a rival in the form of Ashok Leyland who recently revealed the Circuit series of all-electric buses which was in fact India's first of its kind. Presentation and Benefits of Fuel Cells

The electrical energy is produced by the fuel cell, from the energy released by the combination of hydrogen and oxygen. This cell is powered by cylinders storing hydrogen. This device (battery + bottles) is mounted on the bus horn.

The use of the fuel cell only releases water vapor. It is therefore a mode of propulsion particularly ecological.

The arrival of buses equipped with a fuel cell in a network obviously requires some adjustments for the supply of hydrogen and the maintenance of these buses

HOW IT WORKS ?

Supplied with dihydrogen (H2) contained in gaseous form in one or more pressure tanks (350 or 700 bar), the fuel cell produces electricity by mixing the H2 with the oxygen (O2) present in the outside air . The energy is then stored in a lithium-ion battery or directly feeds the electric motor of the vehicle.

What Technologies behind the Hydrogen Bus

The motor of the bus with hydrogen is electrical therefore silent and clean. The difference between an electric vehicle and a hydrogen vehicle is energy storage. Vehicle hybridization is called: the operation is the same but the batteries are replaced by hydrogen tank and the fuel cell (PAC).

The hydrogen bus stores its energy in a hydrogen tank, similar to a gas tank. This hydrogen will be converted into electricity by a fuel cell. This current will power the electric motor which will convert it into mechanical energy to turn the wheels.

The electric motor is capable, during braking, of converting the excess mechanical energy into electrical energy. This created electrical energy is then stored in the control battery.

Hydrogen Buses Serving the Clean City of Tomorrow

Several cities choose the hydrogen electric bus as part of their overall energy transition. They integrate the problems of extra cost, training and availability in the definition of their project.

The hydrogen buses allow cities to offer public transport 100% ecological. Moreover, the absence of polluting emissions and noise will significantly improve the living conditions of citizens.
